Itinerary
Days 1-2 Adelaide
Surrounded by world-renowned wine regions, Adelaide is the first stop on your adventure. Head out on a half day city tour to explore Adelaide’s main attractions and the National Wine Centre of Australia which offers a unique and memorable experience for wine enthusiasts.
Days 3-4 Adelaide to Kangaroo Island
Pick up your car and head south to Kangaroo Island, renowned for its natural beauty. This perfect sanctuary offers a wide range of secluded white sand beaches with crystal clear waters and dramatic rock formations and encounters with fascinating native wildlife, perfect for nature lovers.
Day 5 Kangaroo Island to Adelaide Hills
This morning say goodbye to magnificent Kangaroo Island and drive through the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula to Mount Lofty, perhaps adding a stop en route at McLaren Vale wine region. This evening, enjoy a gourmet escape at the hotel’s three ‘hatted’ (Michelin-starred) fine dining restaurant overlooking the Piccadilly Valley.
Days 6-7 Adelaide Hills to Barossa Valley
After breakfast, head north to the beautiful Barossa Valley, home to over 80 cellar doors and 150 wineries. From small family-run boutiques to household names, the region is particularly famed for its outstanding Shiraz and Riesling.
Days 8-9 Barossa Valley to Murray River Region
Australia’s longest waterway hosts rare fauna and flora and an abundance of birdlife. Watch graceful pelicans glide by and perhaps enjoy a gourmet barbecue on the deck of your luxurious villa.
Day 10 Murray River Region to Mildura
Cross the state border into Victoria and follow the river to Mildura. This historic town offers plenty of river-based activities including paddle steamer trips.
Days 11-12 Mildura to Halls Gap
The natural beauty and scale of the Grampians National Park become evident as you approach Halls Gap. Stay in peaceful forest cabins and soak up your remarkable surroundings with a chance to get up close to native species, enjoy scenic walks through the national park and head into town at dusk to see the resident ’roos grazing.
Days 13-14 Halls Gap to Johanna
Today journey along the Great Ocean Road, passing the magnificent Twelve Apostles en route. Take time to wander the boardwalks that lead to striking viewpoints. On your next day, explore the lush rainforest at Cape Otway National Park. If you are lucky you may spot rare marsupials including the elusive tiger quoll and cute sugar glider.
Day 15 Johanna to Melbourne
Cruise the coastal road and perhaps stop for fish and chips in the pretty seaside town of Lorne. Drop off your car on arrival in Melbourne.
Days 16-17 Melbourne
With its wealth of excellent restaurants and museums, Melbourne is often referred to as Australia’s cultural capital. Explore the charming laneways and sample local delicacies as you explore all that the city has to offer. On your last day, head to the airport for your onward flight.
