Itinerary
Day 1 Cape
Town
Arrive into Cape
Town. Tonight, get to know your group on your first night out together,
maybe head to the clubs on Long Street to explore the vibrant nightlife.
Day 2 Cape
Town to Cederberg
Climb aboard your
Lando (overland vehicle) and hit the road in style, view the stunning Western
Cape scenery as you travel to the G Adventures-supported !Khwa ttu San
Culture and Education Centre, here you’ll learn about the history and
culture of the ancient Sans people. In the afternoon arrive at your first
campsite where you can enjoy free time to sip on some local wine, or simply
chill out by the campsite’s swimming pool overlooking the vineyards.
Day 3 Cederberg
to Orange River
Travel further
north past large plantations of rooibos tea. You will be camping at the
scenic Orange River for the night where you can kick back, relax, reflect,
and enjoy a late afternoon swim in the river.
Day 4 Orange
River to Fish River Canyon
Leave South Africa
behind as you cross the border into Namibia. The next stop is Fish River
Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa, and arguably the second largest in
the world. Hop off the Lando, take in the majestic beauty of the canyon
and watch as the vibrant sunset slips over the canyon’s rim.
Day 5 Fish
River Canyon to the Namib Desert
Continue north
along long and bumpy roads, en route to the Namib Desert. Take some time
to enjoy your new surroundings where the towering red sand dunes of Sossusvlei
make you really feel as though you’re in the middle of nowhere.
Day 6 Namib
Desert
Today you can
opt to take a guided walk at the dunes and enjoy some free time to explore
them on your own. Arrive back at your campsite around lunch time and take
down the tents, pack up the Lando, and drive to the next desert campsite.
Day 7 Namib
Desert to Swakopmund
Drive further
north in the Lando today and get a real feel for the Namib Desert as you
cross this empty region over dry mountain passes to get to the adrenaline
capital of Swakopmund, your home for the next two nights.
Day 8 Swakopmund
There's plenty
to see and do in Swakopmund. Feel free to relax or try optional activities
like quad biking, sandboarding, and skydiving. Your tour leader will be
able to advise you on more ideas if you need them. Just ask!
Day 9 Swakopmund
to Spitzkoppe
It’s back in
your Lando as you travel through the coastal region of Namibia to the granite
peaks of Spitzkoppe. Upon arrival the rest of the day is yours at leisure.
Day 10 Spitzkoppe
to Etosha National Park
Head to Etosha
National Park for some prime wildlife viewing, on arrival enjoy a short
safari drive in the Lando on the way to your camp. Look out over beautiful
desert landscapes as far as the eye can see. After sunset, watch animals
at the watering holes near the camping area, which is safe, being well
lit with flood lights. Free time at night allows for the option of a night
safari in an open vehicle.
Day 11 Etosha
National Park
A full day of
safari awaits you! Set off into the wilds of Etosha National Park in search
of a wide variety of wildlife. More than 100 species of mammals call Etosha
home, including lions, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, blue wildebeest, springbok,
zebra, and hyenas. Keep your Camera on the ready and go wild!
Day 12 Etosha
National Park to Waterberg Plateau
It’s time to
move on from Etosha further south to the Waterberg Plateau. On arrival
choose to spend some time to relax, take a hike, go on another wildlife
safari drive or simply chill out at the camp.
Day 13 Waterberg
Plateau to Windhoek
Leave the Waterberg
Plateau National Park behind and head south through the Namibian countryside
to Windhoek. Stop along the way at the Penduka Village Restaurant &
Shop where you will enjoy a delicious lunch before your tour comes to an
end.
