Itinerary
Day 1 Casablanca
Arrive in Casablanca and join your fellow travellers and tour director for a welcome dinner this evening.
Day 2 Casablanca to Fez
Explore the city this morning and visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest in the country. Head to Rabat to see the Royal Palace and the lavish mausoleum of King Mohammed V. Continue to the great imperial city of Meknes and stand before the monumental gateway of Bal el-Mansour, before travelling to Fez. This evening, enjoy a Moroccan feast in an ancient palace with a traditional folklore show.
Day 3 Fez
Wander the ancient Medina and pass one of the world’s oldest universities, before touring the colourful souks to learn about the ancient craft of carpet making, pottery and baking.
Day 4 Fez to Erfoud
Leave the city behind and head to the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains, passing the great cedar forests of Azrou and the magnificent Ziz Gorges en route. Upon arrival in Erfoud, perhaps join an optional excursion to meet the desert nomads on a 4WD Sahara sunset tour.
Day 5 Erfoud to Ouarzazate
Travel to Todra Gorge, known as the ’Grand Canyon of the Sahara’. Journey through the dry, rugged Dades Valley which is dotted with fig and olive trees, as well as castellated mud houses hugging the slopes. Visit a traditional nomad house for some Berber tea, before continuing along ‘The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs’ to Ouarzazate, the ‘film capital of Morocco’.
Day 6 Ouarzazate to Marrakech
Visit the fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s finest kasbahs before travelling through charming mountain villages to the ochre-coloured city of Marrakech. Spend the afternoon at leisure, why not relax and enjoy the amenities of the hotel?
Day 7 Marrakech
Meet a local expert to tour the bustling Djemaa el Fna Square, famous for its palm readers, snake charmers and market stalls. Visit the incredible Bahia Palace, before spending the rest of the day at leisure. Perhaps head to a traditional Moroccan restaurant to try some local dishes and watch twirling belly dancers.
Day 8 Marrakech to Essaouira
Venture to the old port of Essaouira. Navigate the alleyways, explore the busy fishing port or sample the local seafood this evening.
Day 9 Essaouira to Casablanca
Journey north back to Casablanca and join your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner at Rick’s Café, recreated from the famous film that bears the city’s name.
Day 10 Casablanca
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
