Trailfinders' Pete Waters gives an insight into Katathani Phuket Beach Resort
Katathani Phuket Beach Resort Expert Review
Pete Waters
Our family really enjoyed our stay at Katathani Phuket Beach Resort. The selection of pools, great beaches, wide range of restaurants (both Thai and Western for the kids) and friendly staff make this an excellent option. Our four year old also enjoyed an hour or so in the kids club each day which was a good respite from the heat.
There's plenty of local restaurants around the hotel and it's easy to get a fixed price tuk-tuk up to Kata. Kata is lively and not for everyone, but it does have a wider set of restaurants and bars.
Our room had a double bed, a single bed and a cot and still had enough room for us all. I highly recommend the Thani Wing to be closer to the beach and a wider selection of pools.
There's lot of things to keep you entertained such as a giant chess board, petanque, table tennis, pool etc which is great for kids of a certain age... and big kids too!
Top tip: I recommend a visit up the hill to The Sundeck. This bar/restaurant was an amazing lunch option with great food and expansive views. If you go at sunset instead then it's really popular and needs booking. It’s more expensive than the average restaurant in Thailand but it's worth the additional cost.
