Trailfinders' Rafaela Barbosa Carreira gives an insight into The Sarojin
The Sarojin Expert Review
Rafaela Barbosa Carreira
The Sarojin was the perfect end to our incredible time in Thailand. The rooms are stunning, the bathrooms are open and really have the wow factor. The pool area is fantastic and peaceful, and we spent most of our mornings there. You can enjoy a dip and then relax in the loungers whilst watching big lizards and chipmunks climbing the surrounding trees.
The breakfast was great, with sparkling wine served together with freshly squeezed juices, pastries and then an a la carte menu. Breakfast is served until 6pm for those who sleep in.
The hotel's restaurant is on the Michelin recommended list, and there are a couple of authentic Thai places a few minutes’ walk along the beach for some more budget-friendly options (a massive plate of freshly grilled prawns was just 300 Baht!).
The service was flawless, constant without being intrusive, and they offer all clients a metal bottle of water to refill throughout and to take home, which is a nice touch.
The beach is so lovely and perfect for long walks, it’s the picture-perfect Thai beach. The hotel is slightly removed from Khao Lak town itself, but taxis have a fixed price of 300 Baht per journey (takes about 10-15 minutes) and there are taxis everywhere. The hotel does offer free bike hire if you are keen to cycle to nearby waterfalls and there is a fantastic food market nearby that runs three times a week.
