Trailfinders' Lulu Gordon-Booth gives an insight into Pimalai Resort & Spa, Koh Lanta
Pimalai Resort & Spa, Koh Lanta Expert Review
Lulu Gordon-Booth
This is my second time at the Pimalai Resort Koh Lanta and it was exactly as incredible as I remembered. This hotel is heaven on earth. It’s a longer transfer than if you were to just stay in Krabi or Phuket, but it’s very much worth the journey.
The staff are absolutely incredible. They are so kind and friendly and give the impression that they really enjoy working there. After ordering gluten free twice, the waiters were bringing out gluten free bread and showing me everything I could have on the menu without having to ask. It's the type of place where guests are taking photos with members of staff on their final evenings.
Both times I've stayed in the entry level room and it's been more than enough space, with a private balcony and beautiful soaking tub. The pools are beautiful and you could stay in the ocean for hours. The gym had great equipment and the spa is great for massages. The activities they offer are phenomenal. If you’re quite active and don't like laying on the beach for too long, you won't get itchy feet!
The hotel is walking distance to a small town with a few restaurants and a 7/11, but we only went to town once as we were having so much fun in the resort. Because of its quite traditional Thai style we didn't feel like we were missing out on the culture hugely by doing this.
I'm not one to stay at a hotel multiple times as I love trying new places, but this place is just unparalleled and I think I'll be going back for a third stay and many more to follow. I cannot recommend staying here more.
Top tip: The beach bar does happy hour from 5-6pm with great cocktails.
