UPGRADING YOUR FLIGHTS
Sumptuous flatbed seats, à la carte dining and a tranquil airport lounge to kick it all off. Once a lavish luxury for high powered executives and the super wealthy, premium cabins and their associated services, are now more affordable than ever.
Never experienced them before? Then now’s the time to try. Here’s a guide to how you could be travelling.
flightPremium Economy
For little more than the price of a good meal out you could be enjoying all the benefits of a Premium Economy cabin.
You’ll start the experience at your own dedicated check in desk where you’ll be glad to relieve yourself of the complimentary extra luggage.
On board you can toast your journey with a pre-flight beverage before settling into your sumptuous seat. All premium cabins offer wider seats and more leg room – often with a greater recline and custom-made seat shells that prevent other passengers reclining into your space.
Dining is also something to be savoured, with most airlines offering enhanced meals or even the option to choose from the Business Class menu, often served on china crockery with stainless steel cutlery. Beverages are also given a boost, with a selection of premium wines to choose from, whilst Air France offer wine and champagne selected by top sommelier ‘Olivier Poussier’. In-flight entertainment is often enhanced too, with bigger and better screens, complimentary noise-cancelling headphones, power points, USB sockets and even Wi-Fi.
Overnight flights lend themselves most to the benefits of travelling Premium Economy, with the additional legroom really coming into its own, allowing you to stretch out and relax long into the night. Cabins have far fewer seats in them, which naturally reduces ambient noise making for a more comfortable and peaceful journey. Complimentary amenity kits ensure you’ll arrive feeling refreshed and ready for what awaits on touchdown.
Only want to upgrade your overnight flight? No problem, more often than not these cabins can be combined with Economy or Business cabins in each direction.

To travel Business Class is to experience levels of service and comfort akin to the finest hotels.
With some airlines, the benefits begin as soon as you leave home with a chauffeur transfer to the airport – ideal for the extra luggage and a hassle free start to your trip. On arrival you’ll breeze through a dedicated check-in desk, be guided through the fast-track security and into the oasis of the lounge. The familiar throng of crowds and buzz of the terminal are left behind as your surroundings are serene, opulent, and generous – both in terms of luxury and consumption. Take a drink at the bar, sit down and dine from the a la carte menu or catch up on your book in the snug. With Virgin Atlantic you can even get a haircut or spa treatment.
On board you’ll receive your pre-take off tipple, whilst you are presented with an extended list of dining options which cater for all appetites, served at a time which suits you. Enjoy some snacks with your movie or take dinner afterwards, the choice is yours. Some airlines partner with celebrity chefs, so it’s typical to expect sautéed sea bass, seared tuna or slow braised beef, served on quality tableware and washed down with a choice of fine wines, champagnes and spirits.
After dinner, wile away the hours with a huge range of entertainment options from an upgraded screen, or take advantage of the quiet cabin and extra room to get some work done. Travelling with friends and family? Some airlines, such as Emirates, Virgin Atlantic and Qatar, now offer a dedicated onboard bar – perfect to sit and socialise as the hours literally fly by.
Taking advantage of the facilities is all very well, but one of the real benefits is the chance for a good night’s sleep. The top cabins now offer around 6 feet of uninterrupted space and full flatbeds with memory foam mattresses along with pillows, duvets and complementary amenity kits stocked with lavish products – the perfect way to prepare for the start of your holiday, or smooth your transition home.

Flying First Class is as close as you can get to owning your own private jet.
The ultimate in luxury in the air, you’ll enjoy larger seats, more space and fewer travelling companions than in even Business Class. Service is personalised and attentive and of course the dining is superb with dishes created by top chefs served when you please. There’s even often the option to order your chosen meals in advance.
Many airlines now offer private suites in First Class where a touch of a button will enclose you in your own private haven, complete with wide-screen TV, mini-bar and spacious bed of course. Singapore Airlines even offer double bed suites if you are travelling with your loved one.
Complimentary pyjamas are generally included and amenity kits come complete with the finest beauty products to ensure you arrive feeling refreshed and revitalised. The Emirates A380 even includes an onboard shower for First Class guests.
Don’t think all of this luxury is out of reach. Sometimes the difference between Business Class and First Class can be as little as a few hundred pounds so it’s always worth asking your Trailfinders Travel Consultant to take a look for you. You may be pleasantly surprised.
